The Pennington County Highway Department held a Public Hearing for their Five Year Road and Bridge Plan before the regular meeting of County Commissioners Tuesday in Thief River Falls.
Count Correspondent Dave Burns says the Hearing was brief, lasting only 20 minutes. No action was taken, the Board will consider the draft of the plan presented and discuss options at the first regular Board meeting scheduled for the second Tuesday in May.
County Engineer Mike Flaagan says most items on the plan are simple rehab, yearly upkeep and maintenance projects, including mill and overlay, shoulder paving, intersection improvements, striping and crack sealing.
Looking at the next five years, one major project on the plan includes a Kraka township bridge replacement scheduled for 2022. However, Flaagan says the biggest item is one set to be discussed at a public information meeting scheduled Thursday, the new Mark Blvd. Bridge, across the Red Lake River on Thief River Falls South Side.
The public informational meeting Thursday night will be held at the Multi Use Facility on Veterans Memorial Highway, Thief River Falls West Side.
In other business this week, County Commissioners reappointed County Flaagan to another 4 year term. Flaagen has served 17 years with Pennington County.
