The TRF Chapter of the MDHA Spring Seed Handout will be held on Saturday, April 28th, starting at 9am in the south parking lot of the Ralph Engelstad Arena. The Northwest Minnesota Arts Council is pleased to announce the “Of the Year” awards and the NW Art Exhibit awards at a reception at 2:30pm on Saturday, April 28th in Thief River Falls at the Ralph Engelstad Arena. The doors open at 9:30am and you can view the 99 pieces of high quality regional artwork on display in the lobby and vote for People’s Choice. At 2pm enjoy a snack and music entertainment. The program will begin at 2:30 with the main focus being the recognition and celebration of artists and the arts in Northwest Minnesota. The Tabor Smelt Fry will be held on Saturday, April 28th at the Tabor Hall, west of Angus. They will be serving from 5-8pm and the menu includes smelt or pollock, baked potato, salad, baked beans, onion rings, dinner roll and beverage; a children’s menu of chicken strips and fries will also be available. The price is adults/$13, under 12/$5 and preschool/free.

The Severe Weather Awareness Spotter Training, put on by the National Weather Service, will be hosted by the Middle River Fire Dept. in Middle River at 6:30 pm on Tuesday, May 1st. Anyone interested in learning to spot severe weather can attend, it is open to the public; there is no cost for the training.
The Sanford TRF Infant Bereavement Program’s Burial Service will be held on Wednesday, May 2nd at 12 noon at Greenwood Cemetery. Please note that this is the correct time of services.
The local Kiwanis Club is sponsoring their 13th Annual Community Rummage Sale from 8am to 2pm on Saturday, May 5th at the Huck Olson Arena in Thief River Falls. Your item donations in good condition can be dropped off at the Huck on Friday May 4th from 8am to 7pm. Sorry, no TVs, computers, tires or items requiring special disposal will be accepted. The Lincoln High School Key Club will also be hosting a Bake Sale! All rummage sale proceeds to be used for the Northrop Park Playground.
The Thief River Falls Chamber of Commerce is working on the annual flower basket program. This program allows 140 beautiful flower baskets to be hung in downtown Thief River Falls and on the highway 59 double lanes. The purpose of this program is to beautify the streets and add color to our community; if you would like to help, please consider sponsoring a hanging flower basket. The fee to sponsor a flower basket is $70 per basket and that fee covers the cost of the plant, a pot, hanger, brackets, cart maintenance and daily watering with fertilizer.
