The Thief River Falls Care Center is holding their 6th Annual Fund-Raiser on Tuesday, May 8th from 5-8 PM. There will be a quilt raffle, a raffle for a 55” flat screen TV and a silent auction.  The menu includes pulled pork, coleslaw, baked beans, watermelon, and ice cream dessert; the Woodpicks will be playing from 6-7 pm. The price is adults/$10, children/$5, and 5 and under/free.  Funds raised will be used to purchase an outdoor courtyard.

Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered recovery program that meets every Tuesday night at Epiphany Station in Thief River Falls.  This program is for anyone who is dealing with life’s hurts, habits or hang-ups.  The night starts at 6pm with a free meal followed by worship with a teaching or testimony; the night ends in small groups.  The groups currently offered are women’s life issues, addiction and grief and loss; and men’s addictions and life issues.  Nursery is provided, as well as celebration place for elementary aged children. Peder Engelstad Pioneer Village upcoming events: Saturday, May 12th is Uff Da Day, with escape rooms, from 1-4 pm.  The cost is $5/adults, $2/children; the escape rooms will have additional charges, with the money going towards fixing cabin roofs.  They will also have a Viking Costume Contest and a Button Design Contest.  Saturday, May 26th is opening day for the village.

The Northwest Minnesota Arts Council is thrilled to announce a group exhibition of Portrait Art, now open at the NWMAC Gallery in East Grand Forks through May 19th.  Adult and student artists from our region created all of the artwork on display.  An Artist’s Reception will be held for all the portrait artists on Saturday, May 19th, starting at 1:00pm during the Art and Wine Walk Event.  For more information contact Mara Hanel at 218-745-9111.

The Thief River Falls Chamber of Commerce is working on the annual flower basket program.  This program allows 140 beautiful flower baskets to be hung in downtown Thief River Falls and on the highway 59 double lanes.  The purpose of this program is to beautify the streets and add color to our community; if you would like to help, please consider sponsoring a hanging flower basket.  The fee to sponsor a flower basket is $70 per basket and that fee covers the cost of the plant, a pot, hanger, brackets, cart maintenance and daily watering with fertilizer.  Contact the Thief River Falls Chamber of commerce at 218-681-3720 or by email at to help keep this great project going.
