Minnesota House Passes Legislation to Authorize Construction of Enbridge Line #3

On a vote of 74 to 51 yesterday, the Minnesota House passed legislation to authorize the construction of Enbridge Legacy Line #3, the multi-billion dollar pipeline replacement project that runs in Minnesota from Kittson to Carlton County.

The pipeline, built in the 1960’s, was ordered to be replaced during the Obama Administration and has been extensively vetted, but continues to be held up by the State Regulatory Process.

The measure that passed in the House Monday was authored by District 1 Representative Dan Fabian, who says the replacement project will use the latest technology, with a higher level of safety that will also be better for the environment.

A companion measure needs to pass in the State Senate before the bill can move on to the Governor’s Desk, where Mark Dayton is threatening a veto.
