Former Governor and current Political Candidate; Tim Pawlenty said this week it’s time to get rid of state party conventions, pointing to weekend endorsements now being challenged by candidates in both parties, who are putting their faith in the popular vote and the August Primary Election.
Pawlenty says, “Sort of the wake-up call to that whole thing. Most other states just have primaries. And again, in the modern society where people don’t have time to sit through endless meetings, let’s just go vote.”
Meanwhile; the GOP endorsed candidate, Hennepen County Commissioner Jeff Johnson, says failing to compete for the support of the Republican base could make Pawlenty a “disaster in the general election.”
