Two people are in custody after Red Lake Tribal police in recent days seized a considerable supply of illicit heroin, methamphetamine, marijuana and fentanyl.
Jeffery Cook, 26, was arrested July 12 in the West Barton area after officers noticed several people trying to get into a reservation home by going through its windows.
Cook is charged with possession of a controlled substance along with assault on a police officer and obstruction.
Drugs recovered during the arrest included fentynal laced heroine, which investigators say makes the illicit narcotic 50 to 100 times more potent and very dangerous.
Also arrested, 42 year old Angela Beaulieu, following the execution of a search warrant Tuesday. Officers recovered heroin, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, preliminary charges include illegal drug sales and possession.
Officials on the Red Lake Nation say overdoses on the reservation are decreasing, although they continue to urge opioid users and the families who love them to be aware of the signs of overdose.
