The next Thief River Falls Area Food Shelf distribution will be Thursday, July 26th from 10am-1pm at the Food Shelf Building, located at 16330 150th St. NE (go south on Hwy 59 past the movie theater and turn left onto Hwy 61/150th St.. it is the green building/2nd drive on the left).
There is a Blood Drive in Middle River on Thursday, July 26th from 12:15-6pm at the American Legion. Walk-ins are welcome but if you want to make an appointment call 701-799-5742.
The Thief River Falls Zehlians will be hosting an “Art and Wine Walk” in downtown Thief River Falls on Thursday, July 26th. Starting at the Carnegie Library, 20 businesses in downtown TRF will be participating with wine to taste and appetizers. Each participating business will have art by an area artist displayed in their business. Registration is from 5-7pm, with drawings and wine glass give-away to be held at 8:00pm; the cost is $15 with a pre-register and $20 at the door. For questions call 681-8711 ext. 5264 or ext. 5228.
Thief River Falls Public Schools will have 4 four year terms open for the school Board election this November; the filing period for this election is July 31-August 14, 2018. Superintendent Bergstrom and Schoolboard Vice-Chairperson Misty Hempel will be conducting an informational session for anyone interested in learning more about the important role and duties of a school board member. The Sod House Theater is excited to present a new, blue-grass infused adaption of “An Enemy of the People”, that will tour to nine communities this summer. Known for their fantastically fun productions, Sod House will join forces with local talent and audiences and will play in Hallock on July 26th at 7pm. The Middle River Farmer’s Market will be at the picnic shelter on Main Street on Fridays from 2-5 pm this summer through September. Plants, baked goods, jellies, fruits & vegetables, eggs, fancy work and garden décor will be available.

Red Lake County, along with Northwest Minnesota Household Hazardous Waste, will be conducting a waste pesticide and household hazardous waste collection on Monday, July 30th from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the landfill in Red Lake Falls and on Tuesday, July 31st from 3:00pm to 6:00pm at the landfill in Oklee. All Red Lake County farmers, homeowners and farm related businesses will be able to dispose of old or unused paint, farm chemicals, fuels, and household chemicals for FREE. There will be a 300 pound limit on farm chemicals. Please call if you have more than 300 pounds. No rinse water, or empty containers will be accepted. It’s the 2nd Annual Freedom Festival in the Goodridge Veterans Memorial Park on Saturday, July 28th. They’ll have crafters & vendors, bouncy houses, a rock climbing wall, kid’s inflatable archery, face painting, Food by Kate’s Kitchen, Baker St. Sales, Wallace’s Kettle Corn, the Goodridge Café, and a beer garden. The Thief River Falls Community Theater is celebrating their 23rd season with the final Summer Theater Production for your enjoyment. “Grease”, the classic musical with an all teen cast, will be presented Tuesday, July 31st through Thursday, August 2nd. All performances are at 7pm at the NCTC Theater, with tickets available at Digi-Key, and Pennington Square and Main. Tickets will be sold nightly at the door if seating is available.
There will be a Benefit Dinner and Silent Auction for baby girl Dylan Feller on Thursday, August 2nd from 6-8pm at the TRF Eagles Club. Dylan has a rare heart malformation known as Ectopia Cordis, where her heart is on the outside of her thorax. There will be a Freewill donation, with proceeds going to the family for medical expenses. A benefit account has been set up through Bell State Bank.
The River of Life Church is sponsoring a “Shoe Drive Fundraiser”. They are collecting gently worn, used and new shoes; any and all sizes, kids and adults. Any money raised will go towards their children’s ministry. You can drop off donations at Ace Rental, Westside Motors or the River of Life Church, through the end of July.
