Red Lake County, along with Northwest Minnesota Household Hazardous Waste, will be conducting a waste pesticide and household hazardous waste collection on Monday, July 30th from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the landfill in Red Lake Falls and on Tuesday, July 31st from 3:00pm to 6:00pm at the landfill in Oklee. All Red Lake County farmers, homeowners and farm related businesses will be able to dispose of old or unused paint, farm chemicals, fuels, and household chemicals for FREE. There will be a 300 pound limit on farm chemicals. Please call if you have more than 300 pounds. No rinse water, or empty containers will be accepted. Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered recovery program that meets every Tuesday night at Epiphany Station in Thief River Falls. This program is for anyone who is dealing with life’s hurts, habits or hang-ups. The night starts at 6pm with a free meal followed by worship with a teaching or testimony; the night ends in small groups. The groups currently offered are women’s life issues, addiction and grief and loss; and men’s addictions and life issues. There will be a Benefit Dinner and Silent Auction for baby girl Dylan Feller on Thursday, August 2nd from 6-8pm at the TRF Eagles Club. Dylan has a rare heart malformation known as Ectopia Cordis, where her heart is on the outside of her thorax. There will be a Freewill donation, with proceeds going to the family for medical expenses. A benefit account has been set up through Bell State Bank.
It’s the Street Wizard’s 17th Annual Cruise-In Car Show on Saturday, August 4th at the Floyd B. Olson Park in downtown Thief River Falls. Friday night activities include pre-registration, an in-town trivia cruise and an informal meet/greet/eat and display at the Cenex South Convenience Plaza/A&W from 6-9pm. Saturday show events will include the cruise-in car show downtown, with registration starting at 8:30am. The Pennington County Sportsmen’s Club is sponsoring their 4th Annual Fun Shoot on Sunday, August 5th from 9am-6pm. There will be multiple events to choose from or do them all. The entry fee is $5 per shooter per event; enter as often as you like. This event is open to the public; a gun safety certificate is required for anyone under 18 years old. The River of Life Church is sponsoring a “Shoe Drive Fundraiser”. They are collecting gently worn, used and new shoes; any and all sizes, kids and adults. Any money raised will go towards their children’s ministry. You can drop off donations at Ace Rental, Westside Motors or the River of Life Church, through the end of July.
