The Bison received 151 first-place votes to earn the top spot over James Madison, which received the other six first-place votes. Kyle Gibson was tagged for six runs, four earned, in five frames as he fell to 5-and-9 with the loss. The Twins are now 10 games behind the Tribe in the division.

(Chicago, IL) — The Minnesota Lynx begin a two-game road swing tonight in Chicago against the Sky. The Lynx will also visit Las Vegas on Thursday. Minnesota has lost three in-a-row to dip to 15-and-13 on the season. Chicago is 10-and-18.
(Edina, MN) — Andrew Shea is best remembered as the attorney that came up with a winning legal strategy that kept Major League Baseball from eliminating the Twins from the league. Shea died July 8th in Edina after several years of failing health. He was 79.
(Cloquet, MN) — The Cloquet School Board won’t be renewing the contract of the boys hockey coach. The board voted unanimously yesterday morning to not renew Kevin Smalley’s contract. Smalley submitted his resignation in mid-July, saying he needed to focus more on his job at Sinnott Blacktop. He had been arrested July 8th on suspicion of drunk driving. He hasn’t been charged yet in that incident.
