The State Department of Transportation is advising motorists to seek alternate routes as crews are scheduled to begin bituminous milling Monday on Third Street / Highway #59, from Atlantic to the Third Street Bridge – in front of City Hall, the Historic Soo Line Depot. Work will begin at 6am.

Project Engineer, Andrea Long Volkner, says “flaggers” will be directing traffic but drivers can expect delays in both east and west lanes, suggesting First Street and Greenwood as alternate routes. Bituminous work is expected to move east along the double lanes all next week.

In the 8th Street Construction Zone; paving is expected to begin next Friday from the east side of the 8th Street Bridge, east to the City Limits.

As far as the 8th Street Project West of the 8th Street Bridge, work is continuing with Hancock finally delivering the product needed to complete re-construction. Paving west of the bridge now tentatively scheduled the last week in August, weather and schedule permitting.
