The Middle River Farmer’s Market will be at the picnic shelter on Main Street on Fridays from 2-5 pm this summer through September. Plants, baked goods, jellies, fruits & vegetables, eggs, fancy work and garden décor will be available.

Trails to Treatment is sponsoring a fundraiser on Friday and Saturday, August 31st and September 1st.  One of the kick-off events is the Karaoke competition, which will be held on Friday evening at 8pm at the Wheel Bar in Middle River.  Singers are needed for this competition and prizes will be awarded.  Trails to Treatment is a great program that offers assistance to patients currently receiving cancer treatments.  Accept the challenge and join in the fun.  If interested, register with veteran karaoke performer, Jody Kirkeide.  Call her at 684-1228; leave a message if there’s no answer.  Or, you can just show up and register on site.

The TRF CHIP Chapter presents “How to Make Plant-Based Pizza” by David Jahn at Open Arms Christian Fellowship on Tuesday, September 4th at 6pm.  Not only will you learn how to make delicious plant-based pizza, you will get to eat it too.  There is no charge to attend, but pre-registration is requested by noon, Monday September 3rd.  Register by calling 681-6738 or 681-0444 or email trfchip@gmail.com; please let them know how many people you are registering for.  A CHIP Free Information session will be held immediately following the program.

September 7th– 9th are the dates for this year’s Newfest Festivities in Newfolden.  The 4th Annual Newfolden Fire Department’s Grinding Wheel Trail Run kicks off the celebration weekend on Friday.  Beginning at 6pm on Friday and Saturday evening you’ll find Wojo’s Rodeo located on the east end of Newfolden.  Food and other vendors will be on site, in addition to a beverage garden.  Saturday activities include a Cowboy Breakfast from 8-10am, the Newfest Parade beginning at 11:30am and a Flea Market and Country Market with luncheon and silent auction.  Newfest offers many free events, with Tractor Pulls, a Petting Zoo, Inflatable Games, Horse and Wagon Rides, a Coin Scramble, Face Painting, Water Wars, and new this year, Xtreme Balls for the entire family.  A variety of music entertainment begins at 1pm and will be located downtown in the bandshell.  There will be a Cornhole Tournament and Bingo on Saturday afternoon and the evening entertainment features Four Wheel Drive at the Hobo Haus.  An array of food options will also be offered throughout the weekend and Newfest buttons/raffle will be available at local businesses.  On Sunday the Lions Club will serve Brunch from 9am-1pm at the Newfolden Community Center.
