The Ramsey County Medical Examiners office has joined the investigation into the death of an inmate at a Northwest Minnesota Jail.
Hardel Sherrell, 27, of Apple Valley, “collapsed and became unresponsive” Sunday evening, while being held at the Beltrami County Jail in Bemidji.
Corrections Staff performed CPR and used an Automated External Defribrillator, but were unable to revive Sherrell, who had been picked up on a Warrant out of Dakota County.
The initial investigation shows the death related to an “unknown medical condition.” The Beltrami County Coroner’s Office and Bemidji Police are assisting the investigation.
Sherrell had been held since August 24th.
He was wanted for being a felon in possession of a firearm.
