Close-Call Motorcycle Accident Involving A Train Reported in Thief River Falls

It was a scary situation in Thief River Falls last night with a close-call motorcycle accident occurring on rail tracks while a train was approaching.

According to the report, Kevin Dahlen, 59, was driving a 2006 Harley Davidson Westbound near 180th Street and 140th Ave Northeast, when he says he was blinded by sunlight and did not notice crossing arms in the down position, the Harley striking rail crossing arms and Dahlen landing on the tracks.

Officials say he was able to crawl off the tracks before the train arrived at the intersection, with Dahlen suffering unknown injuries.

He was cited for failure to yield in the accident reported just before 5PM
