The Middle River Farmer’s Market will be at the picnic shelter on Main Street on Fridays from 2-5 pm this summer through September. Plants, baked goods, jellies, fruits & vegetables, eggs, fancy work and garden décor will be available.
September 7th– 9th are the dates for this year’s Newfest Festivities in Newfolden. The 4th Annual Newfolden Fire Department’s Grinding Wheel Trail Run kicks off the celebration weekend on Friday. Beginning at 6pm on Friday and Saturday evening you’ll find Wojo’s Rodeo located on the east end of Newfolden. Food and other vendors will be on site, in addition to a beverage garden. Saturday activities include a Cowboy Breakfast from 8-10am, the Newfest Parade beginning at 11:30am and a Flea Market and Country Market with luncheon and silent auction. Newfest offers many free events, with Tractor Pulls, a Petting Zoo, Inflatable Games, Horse and Wagon Rides, a Coin Scramble, Face Painting, Water Wars, and new this year, Xtreme Balls for the entire family. A variety of music entertainment begins at 1pm and will be located downtown in the bandshell. There will be a Cornhole Tournament and Bingo on Saturday afternoon and the evening entertainment features Four Wheel Drive at the Hobo Haus. An array of food options will also be offered throughout the weekend and Newfest buttons/raffle will be available at local businesses. On Sunday the Lions Club will serve Brunch from 9am-1pm at the Newfolden Community Center.
Everybody’s Market, an outdoor craft and vendor show, will be open from 8am-2pm on Saturday, September 8th in the Floyd B. Olson Park in Thief River Falls.
The Pennington County Humane Society will be having their annual huge rummage sale fundraiser on Saturday, September 8th, 2018 from 8 am to 3 pm at the Thief River Falls Curling Club. All items on the sale will be available for a freewill donation. A free will donation lunch, sweet treats & beverages will also be available. Donation of items are needed and appreciated. Donations may be dropped off from 10 am to 7 pm. If pick-up of donations is needed or you would like to volunteer to help, contact Allison Morgan at 218-280-1081. Sorry, no clothing, books, old TV’s, monitors or large exercise equipment will be accepted.
The Evangelical Covenant Church is holding a multi-party flea market/rummage sale in their TRF parking lot on Saturday, September 8th from 8 am – 2 pm. All proceeds from the space/table rental and food stand supports future mission trips. For more information contact Nikki at 681-4449.
Dr. Jonathon Sarfati, a renowned creation scientist and author, will be presenting two free lectures Sunday, September 9th at 5:30pm at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Thief River Falls. There will be free coffee and refreshments; all are welcome.

The Thief River Falls Public Library presents “Cat Castles 1”. Come to the library on Monday, September 10th from 3:30-5pm and build your furry friend a cat castle; for ages 12 and up. From 6:30-7pm on Monday night Dan Bartsch will review and read different books during “Books Come Alive-Part 2”. This is a continuation of a program Dan did at Northern Lights Bookstore. The next Downtown Development Association Meeting will be held Monday, September 10th at 6:15pm at the River Walk Public House. All are welcome to attend to help in downtown revitalization work. This meeting will focus on the downtown streets project slated for summer 2019.
The Red Lake County Senior Picnic will in held in the Plummer Museum on Tuesday, September 11th from 11 am – 1:00 pm. All seniors 55 years and older are invited to attend, there is no charge. This event is sponsored by the Red Lake County Committee on Aging.
All Co-Rec Volleyball captains and players interested in having a volleyball team on Monday or Wednesday nights for the 2018-2019 season should attend the organizational meeting on Wednesday, September 12th at 6:30pm at the Eagles Club. The Northland Community and Technical College Foundation is sponsoring a 9-Hole Golf Tournament on Thursday, September 13th at the beautiful Oak Knolls Golf Course in Red Lake Falls. There will be a shotgun start at 1:30pm; registration begins at 12:30pm. A light snack will be provided for all golfers, with a great meal and prizes after golf.
