The Thief River Falls Public Library presents “Cat Castles 1”. Come to the library on Monday, September 10th from 3:30-5pm and build your furry friend a cat castle; for ages 12 and up. From 6:30-7pm on Monday night Dan Bartsch will review and read different books during “Books Come Alive-Part 2”. This is a continuation of a program Dan did at Northern Lights Bookstore. The next Downtown Development Association Meeting will be held Monday, September 10th at 6:15pm at the River Walk Public House. All are welcome to attend to help in downtown revitalization work. This meeting will focus on the downtown streets project slated for summer 2019.
The Red Lake County Senior Picnic will in held in the Plummer Museum on Tuesday, September 11th from 11 am – 1:00 pm. All seniors 55 years and older are invited to attend, there is no charge. This event is sponsored by the Red Lake County Committee on Aging.
Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered recovery program that meets every Tuesday night at Epiphany Station in Thief River Falls. This program is for anyone who is dealing with life’s hurts, habits or hang-ups. The night starts at 6pm with a free meal followed by worship with a teaching or testimony; the night ends in small groups. The groups currently offered are women’s life issues, addiction and grief and loss; and men’s addictions and life issues. The Thief River Falls Christian Women’s Club/Stonecroft Ministries will present a noon lunch and program on Tuesday, September 18th at the American Legion in Thief River Falls. Delores Langseth from Harvey, North Dakota will share with you her journey from “Darkness into Light” and Byron and Peggy Staie will bring their musical talents. The Northland Community and Technical College Foundation is sponsoring a 9-Hole Golf Tournament on Thursday, September 13th at the beautiful Oak Knolls Golf Course in Red Lake Falls. There will be a shotgun start at 1:30pm; registration begins at 12:30pm. A light snack will be provided for all golfers, with a great meal and prizes after golf. Oak Ridge Church will hold their annual Fall Bazaar and Rummage Sale on Saturday, September 15th from 9am to 2pm. Items include quilts, baked goods, garden produce, crafts and misc. items plus donated rummage sale items. Lunch, bars, and coffee served all day.
There will be a benefit for Emma Basting on Saturday, September 15th from 3-7pm at the Grand Forks Growth and Support Center. 2 year old Emma, daughter of Aaron and Brandi Bartuska-Basting, was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma. Emma is now paralyzed from the chest down and has undergone 6 rounds of chemotherapy, multiple surgeries and has required many transfusions, with at least another year of treatment needed to fight her cancer. Nazareth Lutheran Church of Holt will be having their annual Fall Dinner on Sunday, September 16th from 12 noon to 2:30pm. The menu includes turkey, dressing, potatoes, gravy, lefse, rommegrot, carrots, buns, cranberries, pickles, dessert and a beverage. The price is adults/$12, ages 5-9/$5, and preschoolers/free. Packaged lefse and rommegrot will be available for sale at the door. They will also have a Quilt Raffle and Anniversary Cookbooks for sale.
On Sunday, September 16th a festival called “Village Arts: A Celebration of Creativity” will be held at Peder Engelstad Pioneer Village in Thief River Falls. The festival will be held from 1-5pm and will include music, dance, theater and visual arts. Visual artists are needed to display their work on that day.
