Protesters shut down a Minnesota Public Utilities Commission Hearing yesterday that had been scheduled to consider completion of a conditional Route Permit for Enbridge Energy Legacy Line #3; a multi-billion dollar pipeline replacement project that runs through the Listening Area, from Kittson to Carlton County.

Representative Dan Fabian, who Chairs the House Environment and Natural Resources Committee said he was disappointed and angered by the conduct, calling the disruption a “verbal assault” saying regulators should be allowed to go through the process without being “shouted down, bullied or harassed” and demanded civility and respect in further proceedings.

Earlier this year the PUC approved a Certificate of Need and Conditional Route Permit for the project and was schedule to vote on whether the conditions of the permit had been met.
