(Undated) — Minnesota native and former Vikings safety Keith Nord passed away Wednesday following a short battle with an aggressive form of cancer. Nord was 61. Nord grew up in Minnetonka, played his college football at St. Cloud State University and then earned his way to a roster spot with the Vikings in 1979. Nord spent seven years with the Vikings before being released in 1985, having served as the special teams captain in 1983 and racking up 285 career tackles and one kick return for a touchdown.

ESPN reports his three preferred trade destinations are the Nets, Clippers or Knicks. ESPN later had Butler’s top preferred destination is the Clippers. The 29-year-old played six seasons in Chicago before being traded to Minnesota last season.

Stephen Gonsalves got the win with six innings of one-hit ball after Gabriel Moya pitched the first. Willians Astudillo drove in three runs and Tyler Austin plated two as Minnesota won its fourth straight. The Twins have the day off before opening their final road series of the season tomorrow at Oakland. Jose Berrios will get the ball for Minnesota in the opener. After three games with the A’s, the Twins wrap up the season with a seven-game home stand.

Brennan Menell and Justin Kloos tallied goals to give Minnesota a 2-1 lead in the first period. The Wild opened the exhibition slate with 2-1 loss at Winnipeg on Monday. They host the Stars for a preseason game tonight at the Xcel Energy Center.
