You are invited to join in the fun at the Challenger Elementary Forest Book Fair today, through noon on Friday, October 5th. The book fair will be open daily from 7:30am to 6:30pm. Stop in for the evening special family events on Tuesday, October 2nd and Thursday, October 4th from 5:30pm to 8pm for great books, prizes and more! You’ll find a treasure load of books for preschool through adult readers; the entire community is invited to the Challenger Book Fair, located in Gym 1.
Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered recovery program that meets every Tuesday night at Epiphany Station in Thief River Falls. This program is for anyone who is dealing with life’s hurts, habits or hang-ups. The night starts at 6pm with a free meal followed by worship with a teaching or testimony; the night ends in small groups. The groups currently offered are women’s life issues, addiction and grief and loss; and men’s addictions and life issues. The next Thief River Falls Area Food Shelf distribution will be Thursday, October 4th from 10am-1pm at the Food Shelf Building, located at 16330 150th St. NE (go south on Hwy 59 past the movie theater and turn left onto Hwy 61/150th St.. it is the green building/2nd drive on the left). Please bring your own boxes.
There will be a benefit for Lisa Geske on Thursday, October 4th from 4:30-8pm at the Eagles Club in Thief River Falls. They will be serving BBQ’s, macaroni salad, baked beans, and chips. There will be a live Auction at 7pm, with a silent auction, bake sale and raffle throughout the evening. Lisa was diagnosed with breast cancer in March 2018. Parent-Teacher Conferences at Lincoln High School, Franklin Middle School, and Challenger Elementary School will be held on Thursday, October 11th from 4-8pm, Tuesday, October 16th from 4-8pm, and Wednesday, October 17th from 8am-12pm. They will be using Synergy, the student information system, to schedule the conferences. The site will be open starting at 8am on Friday, October 5th and will close on Wednesday, October 10th at 3pm.
There will be a Fall Fancy Work Sale at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in rural Grygla on Saturday, October 6th at 7pm. You’ll find a Live Auction of all types of handmade items, quilts, rugs, dishtowels, baked goods, candy and garden produce. Refreshments and bars will be served following the sale. Everyone is welcome.
The Middle Snake/Tamarac Rivers Watershed District will have a special meeting for permits on Tuesday, October 9th at 8:30am at the District Office.
The Northwest Minnesota Arts Council sponsors an annual Traveling Art Exhibit, which visits northwest Minnesota communities throughout the year. The exhibit includes 15 original pieces of art by regional adult artists. The exhibit is currently at the Ada Public Library until November 2nd.
