Minnesota State Patrol Reports 13 Work Zone Fatalities So Far In 2018

There have been 13 fatalities in work-zone crashes so far this year.

That is the most since 2007.

Minnesota State Patrol Lieutenant Tiffani Nielson says the number one concern is distracted driving. She says “Distractions are a huge barrier for drivers trying to overcome the potential for being distracted behind the wheel.”

59-year-old road construction worker Vernon Hedquist of Pillager was killed in an accident on I-94 in Rogers Tuesday.

The cause of that crash remains under investigation.
