Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered recovery program that meets every Tuesday night at Epiphany Station in Thief River Falls. This program is for anyone who is dealing with life’s hurts, habits or hang-ups. The night starts at 6pm with a free meal followed by worship with a teaching or testimony; the night ends in small groups. The groups currently offered are women’s life issues, addiction and grief and loss; and men’s addictions and life issues. There will be a Youth Trapping Class for kids ages 10 through 17 on Wednesday and Thursday, October 10th and 11th at 4pm at the TRF Public Library Meeting Room. Field work will be held Saturday, October 13th at the Pennington County Sportsmen’s Club. Pre-registration is required; there is no cost for this class, size is limited to 24. Parent-Teacher Conferences at Lincoln High School, Franklin Middle School, and Challenger Elementary School will be held on Thursday, October 11th from 4-8pm, Tuesday, October 16th from 4-8pm, and Wednesday, October 17th from 8am-12pm. They will be using Synergy, the student information system, to schedule the conferences. The site will be open starting at 8am on Friday, October 5th and will close on Wednesday, October 10th at 3pm.
The Thief River Falls Christian Women’s Club/Stonecroft Ministries will sponsor a noon lunch and program on Tuesday, October 16th at the American Legion in Thief River Falls. Judi Rauscher from Sioux Falls, South Dakota will help you put your past behind and find a bright present; she will also share her musical talents with you. Julia Nelson from Rehab/Authority will give some tips to help maintain your health and wellness at any age. Plan to attend the Sanford Auxiliary’s Festival of Tables on Saturday, October 13th at the TRF Eagles Club from 11:30am-2pm. Proceeds will go towards auxiliary scholarships and other projects such as infant bereavement, caring and sharing fund, and pediatric rehab renovation. Tickets can be purchased at the Sanford Medical Center Gift Shop.
Grace Lutheran Church of Grygla is sponsoring their Annual Lutefisk Supper on Saturday, October 13th from 4-7:30pm at the Grygla Community Center. The menu includes lutefisk, lefse, Swedish meatballs with gravy, real mashed potatoes, carrots, cranberries and homemade desserts. The price is 13 yrs. to adults/ $16 (for lutefisk), 13 yrs. to adults/ $10 (for meatballs), 5-12 yrs./$6, and preschool is free. To-go boxes will be available; there will also be a bake and handcraft sale.
It’s the Annual Fall Supper and Bake Sale at Oak Ridge Lutheran Church from 4-7pm on Saturday, October 13th. They will be serving ham, real mashed potatoes and gravy, raisin sauce, homemade pickles, vegetable, homemade bread, dessert, milk and coffee. The price is adults/$9, and children under 12 is $5; carry-outs will be available. They will also have a bake sale and hand-made quilts for sale.
A Pancake Benefit to raise funds to defray medical expenses for Paul Duray of Greenbush will be held on Sunday, October 14th from 9:30am-1pm at the Greenbush Community Center. The menu will be pancakes, ham, ice cream, strawberries, juice, milk and coffee; a freewill offering will be included. This event is sponsored by the Greenbush-Badger Lions Club.
St. Pauli Lutheran Church of rural Thief River Falls will host a special concert on Sunday, October 14th at 4pm, featuring the Popple Ridge Pickers from the Lancaster/Hallock area. This event is an annual fundraiser, with proceeds supporting various charities; a freewill offering will be collected. Homemade pie, ice cream and beverages will be served following the concert. There also may be pies for sale, as supplies last. Everyone is welcome!
The Thief River Falls Volunteer Fire Department is serving a Ham Dinner on Monday, October 15th from 4:30-7pm at the TRF Eagles Club. The menu includes ham, mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetable and bun; a freewill offering will be taken. Proceeds will be used to purchase new safety equipment.
The Northwest Minnesota Arts Council sponsors an annual Traveling Art Exhibit, which visits northwest Minnesota communities throughout the year. The exhibit includes 15 original pieces of art by regional adult artists. The exhibit is currently at the Ada Public Library until November 2nd.
