Funeral services for Evelyn Beito, 90, of Middle River, MN, who died Fri. afternoon, October 19, 2018, at Life Care Greenbush Manor Nursing Home in Greenbush, MN, will be hed at 11 a.m. Fri., Oct. 26, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church of Thief Lake near Middle River. Visitation will b e held after 6 P.M. Thur. with a 7 P.M. prayer service at Collins Funeral Chapel in Middle River and at the church one hour prior to services Fri. morning. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery at Strathcona.
Evelyn (Evie) Katherine Beito, the daughter of the late Carsten and Clara (Johnson) Sagstuen, was born on October 26th, 1927 at Holt, MN. She grew to womanhood in the Holt-Newfolden communities & was baptized & confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She graduated from Newfolden High School in 1945. Following graduation, she was employed in Thief River Falls for a time. On December 18, 1946, Evie was united in marriage to Palmer Beito in Thief River Falls. The couple resided near the communities of Strathcona and Middle River for many years. She was employed at Arctic Enterprises, the Greenbush Nursing Home and later at Polaris Industries.
Evie was a long-time member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church of Thief Lake; she was active in the Sunday School, church choir and Ladies Aid. She was a member of Middle River American Legion Auxiliary, Treasurer of the Greenwood Cemetery Board, and secretary of the Middle River Community Club. She participated in the Middle River Community Theatre & was recognized as the Outstanding Senior Citizen.
Evie enjoyed playing guitar & singing with family, yodeling, quilting, flower gardening, puzzles, watching the birds, deer & other animals. She was a wonderful cook and great baker. She treasured family time. In November 2015, Evie moved to LifeCare Assisted Living in Greenbush, MN. In April of 2018, she moved to the LifeCare Greenbush Manor.
Evie is survived by her five sons: Larry, David (Cathi), both of Thief River Falls, Jack (Karen), Rick (Connie) and Terry (June), all of Middle River; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild; sister, Fern Goettsch, Torrance, CA; many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Evie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Palmer Beito in March 1991, son Paul in 1993, brother, Ernest Sagstuen, sister, Clarice Ranum and grandson, Gavin in 2003.
Evie died peacefully in her sleep at LifeCare Greenbush Manor at the age of 90 years, 11 months and 25 days. May her memory be blessed.
