The Evangelical Covenant Church is hosting a Youth Mental Health Aid Workshop on Saturday, October 27th from 8am-5pm; lunch is included, the cost is $20. It’s Trinity Lutheran Church’s Annual Fall Bazaar from 9am-1:30pm on Saturday, October 27th at the church. Lunch will be served from 10:30am-1pm; the menu includes your choice of homemade soups of vegetable beef with dumplings or chicken vegetable with dumplings, fresh bread and a variety of bars. You’ll find baked goods, produce and plants, sewing/wood/and other craft projects, and collectibles you can purchase and a Silent Auction. They’ll also have “Taster Booths”, with samples of lefse, rommegrot, fruit soup, rosettes, and krumkake.
The TRF Knights of Columbus will distribute free coats on Saturday, October 27th from 9am-12pm at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church at 105 Knight Avenue North. Anyone in need of winter coats in sizes 6-18 is welcome to stop in. Contact Robert at 681-7204 for more information.
You’re invited to a 4-H Carnival on Saturday, October 27th from 12-4pm at the Thief River Falls City Auditorium. You’ll find lots of fun, games, prizes, and a Halloween Costume Contest.
There will be a benefit for Douglas Horachek from 4-7pm on Saturday, October 27th at the Goodridge Community Center. They will be serving a Chili Dinner of chili with toppings, breadsticks and dessert. The evening’s activities also include a Silent Auction, and a Craft/Bake Sale. Doug was diagnosed with severe glaucoma in early 2018 and has had to make multiple trips for appointments and surgeries. Proceeds from the benefit will go towards travel and medical expenses, as well as time off of work.
The St. Hilaire Lions Club is holding a benefit Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, October 28th from 9am-noon at the St. Hilaire Community Center. They will be serving pancakes, sausages, scrambled eggs, juice, milk and coffee; a freewill donation will be collected. The benefit is for the Tyler and Amanda Miller family who recently incurred hospital and funeral expenses in the premature birth and death of their baby daughter Halle.
The C’Mon Inn is the place to Trick-or-Treat in TRF on Sunday, October 28th from 4-7pm. Kids enjoy FREE treats and games from participating businesses. This event is put on by Kidz First and Ace Rent-All; games are by the TRF Women of Today. For questions call 681-5862.
The Thief River Falls Public Library is sponsoring a Pumpkin Carving Contest on Monday, October 29th from 3:30-5pm at the library; you bring the pumpkin and they’ll bring the tools. Storytime will be held on Tuesday, October 30th at 9:30am and on Halloween you can come to the library and show off your costumes, do some trick-or-treating and get some candy. Tri-Community Living at Home will be hosting a session presented by the Area Agency on Aging on “Understanding Changes to Medicare Cost Plans” on Tuesday, October 30th at 3:30pm at the Newfolden Community Center. This session will provide information for persons with Medicare, regarding making insurance decisions. For more information call 874-2256.
The LHS Student Council and National Honor Society are sponsoring a “Howl-o-Ween” Fundraiser for the Pennington County Humane Society on Wednesday, October 31st from 4:30-6:30pm. Activities are located in the LHS Commons and include safe indoor trick-or-treating, pet adoption, concessions ($5 meal deal), and carnival games. Items needed for the Humane Society are paper towels, Dawn dish soap, Pedigree canned food, Pedigree or Purina dry dog food, laundry detergent, cat litter, and IAMS cat food.
The Pennington County Humane Society is celebrating 20 years of saving nearly 4,000 animals. Join them for an evening of looking back over the years on Thursday, November 1st from 5-8 PM at the TRF Eagles Club. A delicious pasta meal, provided by Evergreen Catering, will be served. None of your donation monies will be used for this event.
The Holiday Art, Craft & Vendor Sale will be held on Saturday, November 3rd at the TRF Eagles Club; this event is free with a non-perishable food item or cash donation for the TRF Food Shelf. A food shelf donation will also get you entered into the vendor and artist donated door prize drawing. You’ll find numerous vendors and items, holiday ornaments and decorating, and you can water marble your own silk scarf, while supplies last. Lunch will be served by the Northern Lights Dance Studio, and Lincoln High School Band members will present Holiday Music.
