Former City Councilman Appears in Court

Former Thief River Falls City Councilman Josh Hagen made another pre-trial appearance in Pennington County District Court this week.

Hagen appeared before District Judge Tamara Yon at his third pretrial hearing 1PM Monday. Hagen’s first Pre-Trial Hearing was held Monday September 19th. The second was Monday October 9th. The first hearing was continued after Judge Kurt Marben removed himself from the case. Hagen’s 2nd pretrial hearing was also continued, with Hagen’s lawyer saying they were still reviewing discovery evidence transcripts.

Hagen’s case is now on the trial calendar. His next appearance is scheduled for January 2nd, with a December 31st calendar call scheduled for 10:30 AM.
Hagen has pled not guilty to Misdemeanor Assault Charges stemming from a fight with Alderman Jerald Brown at City Hall last July.

Hagen’s are only remaining charges in the “City Hall Brawl” – a disturbance during a Thief River Falls City Hall Committee Meeting this past summer. Thief River Falls 4th Ward Alderman, Jerald Brown, pled guilty in early August to a single count of Disorderly Conduct.

Meanwhile, Mike Lorenson has been elected to Hagen’s former Council Ward 3 seat with more than 43 percent of the vote in yesterday’s election.

He will be sworn in after the Council certifies election results at their regular meeting November 20th.
