A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN, with Pastor Ollie Urdahl officiating. In keeping with Larry’s love of the Norskies, the family encourages you to wear your Norskie shirts. Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at the St. Hilaire Community Cemetery.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Larry Raymond Sourdif was born on May 28, 1951 in Warren, MN, the son of Raymond and Loretta (Lien) Sourdif. He was baptized in the Catholic faith. Larry attended school in Newfolden, MN.
In 1968 Larry enlisted with the United States Army, serving in Vietnam, and discharged in 1971.
Following the service Larry worked in carpentry and truck driving. His truck driving took him across the U.S., then in later years local area hauling grain/milk/beets. His hobbies were to latch hook rugs, leather work, and watch crime shows while eating his M&M’s. He loved fast cars and motorcycles. He enjoyed to work on them and create when possible.
On November 17, 1991 Larry was united in marriage to the love of his life, Elizabeth “Liz” Barclay at the Assembly of God Church in Thief River Falls, MN.
Larry enjoyed his time spent over-the-road with his wife, Liz, and camping and fishing with his grandkids. He loved reading, boating, and going to Norskie’s games. His family and friends were everything to him. He had a heart of gold and a listening ear for everyone. Whether knowing each other for a moment or a lifetime he treated you as family.
Larry is survived by his loving wife, Liz of St. Hilaire, MN; mother, Loretta Sourdif; children, Tina, Larrod, Sarah (Thomas), Angela (Ramiro), Krystal, Denise (Tom), and Kari; grandchildren, Cameron, Martika, Anthony, JeAnna, Zachariah, Kion, Aiden, Peyton, TyAisa, and Avery Jr.; brothers and sisters, Pat (Richard) Moen, Susie (Jim) Bevel, Sandy (John) Lubitz, Wayne (Susie) Sourdif, and Donny Sourdif; brothers-in-law, Al Leidberg and Dennis Barclay; sisters-in-law, Rozzie Sourdif and Lois Barclay; very special aunt, Sharon Lane Eckert; Godson, Jonathan Bradshaw; and many friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Sourdif; sisters, Michelle and Joyce; and brother, Gordon “Skip” Sourdif.
In lieu of flowers memorials are suggested to the Norskie Kids Foundation.
