Pennington County Holds Truth in Taxation Hearing

A 2018 Truth in Taxation hearing took place at the Justice Center last night in downtown Thief River Falls.

The Pennington County Board of Commissioners set tax levy and budget for 2019.

County Auditor Treasurer Ken Olson says the levy increased 2.5%.

County Commissioners last night approved the Budget for 2019 as presented at ten million three hundred thirty-five thousand two hundred sixty-three dollars.

Olson cited personnel factors, such as a promotion and health insurance costs. The largest portion of the budget goes toward the Human Services Department.

Olson also says revenue is up this year by nearly six hundred thousand dollars.
The Sheriff’s Department revenue increased by more than 93 thousand dollars, citing the number of out of county inmates being housed at the Pennington County Justice Center.
