The Thief River Falls Area Food Shelf has new hours. Distribution will now be every Tuesday from 1-6pm and every Thursday from 11am-4:30pm at the Food Shelf Building, located at 16330 150th St. NE (go south on Hwy 59 past the movie theater and turn left onto Hwy 61/150th St.. it is the green building/2nd drive on the left). Please bring your own boxes.
Storytime will be held on Thursday, December 20th from 6:15 – 7:00 pm at the Thief River Falls Public Library, and on Saturday Dads or Grandpas can bring the kids to story time and enjoy a doughnut! Every 4th Saturday of the month it’s “Dad’s and Doughnuts Storytime” at 10:00am at the library. The library will be closed on Monday and Tuesday, December 24th and 25th, for the Christmas holiday. There are Salvation Army Bell-Ringers for the Red Kettle Campaign at L&M Fleet Supply from 10am-8pm Monday through Saturday, until December 22nd. Donations can also be mailed to: Salvation Army of Pennington County, PO Box 340, Thief River Falls. Checks should be made out to Salvation Army of Pennington County.
Miss Thief River Falls and Miss RiverFest present “Dude Looks like a Lady” at 6:30pm on Thursday, December 27th at the Riverwalk Public House. Local gents will each perform a talent, answer an on-stage question, and walk the runway in their evening attire – all for charity; one “Miracle Dude” and one “People’s Choice” winner will be crowned. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $10; all proceeds go to the Children’s Miracle Network. Doors open at 5:30pm for a social hour and silent auction.
The Northwest Minnesota Arts Council sponsors an annual Traveling Art Exhibit, which visits northwest Minnesota communities throughout the year. The exhibit includes 15 original pieces of art by regional adult artists. The exhibit is currently at the Red Lake Falls Public Library until January 4th; it will be at the Roseau Public Library from January 5th to March 1st.
