The Thief River Falls Area Food Shelf has new hours. Distribution will now be every Tuesday from 1-6pm and every Thursday from 11am-4:30pm at the Food Shelf Building, located at 16330 150th St. NE (go south on Hwy 59 past the movie theater and turn left onto Hwy 61/150th St.. it is the green building/2nd drive on the left). Please bring your own boxes.
There will be no Bingo at the Heritage Center until further notice.
A Wellness Gathering will be held at the Red Lake Nation College in Red Lake on Thursday, January 10th at 7 PM; admission is free, a comedy show by Adrianne Chalepah, and Jon Roberts will be presented.
The Thief River Falls Christian Women’s Club/Stonecroft Ministries will sponsor a noon lunch and program on Tuesday, January 15th at the American Legion in Thief River Falls. Olive Wiskow will tell you about the different plans that God had for her; Sandy Hensrud, a local artisan, will share how she provides “get togethers” with exciting and unique art experiences; and Gina Stoutenburgh will bring her musical talents to entertain you. Miss Thief River Falls and Miss RiverFest present “Dude Looks like a Lady” at 6:30pm on Thursday, January 10th at the Riverwalk Public House. Local gents will each perform a talent, answer an on-stage question, and walk the runway in their evening attire – all for charity; one “Miracle Dude” and one “People’s Choice” winner will be crowned. Tickets can be purchased at the door for $10; all proceeds go to the Children’s Miracle Network. Doors open at 5:30pm for a social hour and silent auction.
Come and enjoy a “Cards and Games Get Together on Friday, January 11th at 1pm at the Newfolden Center, sponsored by Tri-Community Living at Home.
It’s the Dog Days of Winter Event, “Fun Sled Dog Rides”. The Norsekids Foundation is sponsoring sled dog rides, by Streeper Kennels, on Saturday, January 12th from 9am to 4pm and on Sunday, January 13th from 9am-3pm at Tindolph Beach in Thief River Falls. The cost is adults/$25 and children 15 and under/$20. Other events include a bonfire, and Little Brother/Little Sister will have a cider stand.
The 2019 Red Lake Falls Sportsman’s Club Membership Supper will be held on Wednesday, January 16th at the RLF American Legion. The evenings activities include supper, the annual meeting, raffles, door prizes, big buck contest and membership renewals. The meeting starts at 7:30pm; there will be gun and door prize drawings for those in attendance.
