Injuries Reported After Pick-Up Slides Through Highway 10 Intersection

A Verndale area man was injured in a two vehicle accident yesterday in Otter Tail County.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, 38 year old Clayton Walter Rice was injured when the 1997 Ford Pickup he was driving slid through the intersection on Highway 10, in Compton Township.

Officials say the pick-up struck a 2006 Kenworth 8000 trailer after sliding through the intersection. The semi’s driver, 59 year old Terry Lee Ballard, of Lake Park, suffered no apparent injury.

Officials say the highway near mile marker 88 was snow and ice covered at the time of the accident, reported just before noon. Both men were reportedly wearing their seat-belts.

Rice was taken to Tri County, Wadena, and treated for injuries officers at the scene describe as non-life threatening.

Officials say alcohol was not a factor in the accident.
