The Thief River Falls Area Food Shelf has new hours. Distribution will now be every Tuesday from 1-6pm and every Thursday from 11am-4:30pm at the Food Shelf Building, located at 16330 150th St. NE (go south on Hwy 59 past the movie theater and turn left onto Hwy 61/150th St.. it is the green building/2nd drive on the left). Please bring your own boxes.
St. John Lutheran School is sponsoring a Preschool and Kindergarten Roundup from 4-6pm on Thursday, February 28th. Come and learn about their programs, tour the school, and every child can make a craft, too. Preschool is available for children ages 3 and 4, with half and full days offered; Kindergarten is available for those age 5 by September. For more information call the school at 681-7753.
Arts Legacy Grants up to $10,000 and Arts Project Grants up to $3,000 are open and will be awarded to nonprofit arts organizations, communities, schools, individuals and other nonprofit organizations. Applications are being accepted from our seven county Minnesota service area, including, Kittson, Marshall, Norman, Pennington, Polk, Red Lake and Roseau counties; the deadline to apply is March 1st. United Lutheran NALC of Berner/Gonvick, located 7 ½ miles north of Gonvick on County Road 7, is serving a Potato Klub Supper from 4:30-7pm on Saturday, March 2nd. The menu includes fresh side pork, Eleanor’s onion gravy and baked potatoes; a freewill offering will be collected.
The annual “Send the Kids to Jesus Camp” breakfast and raffle will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Red Lake Falls on Sunday, March 3rd from 9am until 12:30pm. The menu for the freewill offering breakfast includes ham, French toast, scrambled eggs, juice, fruit cups, and coffee. Raffle tickets will be sold for $1 and the drawing consists of over 100 prizes. There will also be a silent auction, kid’s games, and a “bake walk”. All proceeds will go towards funding youth to attend summer Christian camps.
The Pennington County Soil & Water Conservation District is holding a question and answer Café Chat on Wednesday, March 6th from 9 am to noon at the Pennington Co. Joint Operations Facility in Thief River Falls. A panel of local producers and conservation professionals will be available to answer your questions. This event is free and open to all, but seating is limited, so please call the Pennington County SWCD at 683-7075 to reserve your place; coffee and rolls will be served.
