Multiple highways are reopening in Minnesota, and in North Dakota, as crews deal with the aftermath of the latest snowstorm.
Blowing snow, high winds, ice on the roads and poor visibility created dangerous driving conditions. Motorists should plan accordingly. The latest road conditions can be found by calling 511.
According to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office, it is illegal to travel on a road that is closed. A release from the sheriff’s department says that motorists can be fined up to $1,000 and/or sentenced to 90 days in jail. In addition, if travelers need to be rescued, other expenses and penalties will apply.
Also, according to Mayor Brian Holmer, Calendar Parking expires today in Thief River Falls, canceling an extension passed earlier by the City Council.
