(Augusta, GA) — The Masters Tournament gets underway today at famed Augusta National. Tiger Woods is in the field for the season’s first major but is 14 years removed from his last Masters win in 2005. Patrick Reed returns at the reigning champion. Golf legends Jack Nicklaus and Gary Player will be honorary starters before this morning’s first round.

(Undated) — The Stanley Cup Playoffs are underway. In the first round, the top-seeded Lightning lost 4-3 to the Blue Jackets in Game One, the Islanders outlasted the Penguins 4-3 in overtime, the Blues beat the Jets 2-1, the Stars slipped past the Predators 3-2 and the Sharks caged the Golden Knights 5-2. The puck drops on three more first-round matchups tonight.

(Flushing, NY) — Jake Odorizzi gave up three of the six runs the Mets scored in the fifth inning as the Twins lost 9-6 in New York. Mitch Garver homered and Jonathan Schoop had three hits and an RBI for Minnesota, which trailed 9-1 before a late comeback. Odorizzi fell to 0-and-2 with the loss.  The Twins are back in Minneapolis and will open up a seven-game homestand tomorrow night against the Detroit Tigers.

(Flushing, NY) — The Twins are the 23rd-most valuable franchise in baseball. Forbes values the Twins at 1.2-billion-dollars, up four-percent from last year. The Yankees top the list at 4.6-billion-dollars, while the Marlins rank last at one-billion.

(Denver, CO) — The Timberwolves were outscored by 10 in the fourth quarter and lost 99-95 to the Nuggets to wrap up the season in Denver. Andrew Wiggins netted 25 points and Gorgui Dieng donated 18 and grabbed 11 rebounds for the Wolves, who end the year at 36-and-46. Cameron Reynolds added 19 points off the bench in the setback.

(New York, NY) — The Minnesota Lynx selected UConn forward Napheesa Collier with the sixth overall pick in last night’s WNBA Draft. The Lynx then took Notre Dame forward Jessica Shepard and Buffalo guard Cierra Dillard in round two, and Minnesota guard Kenisha Bell in round three.
