A Mora area woman was killed in a three vehicle accident yesterday in Pine County.
It was just one of the more than 150 accidents reported in Minnesota yesterday. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Margo Renee Hatch, 63, was killed when the eastbound 2010 Chevrolet Impala she was driving was struck by a 2008 Chevrolet Impala, that was waiting to make a left turn on Highway 23, driven by David John Hartl, 66, of Mora. His vehicle was struck from behind by a 2002 Lexus 300 driven by Joseph Timothy Silker, 32, of Carlton.
According to the state patrol report, Hatch’s Impala swung into the east bound lane after being struck, then struck Hatch’s Impala head on, in the collision reported just after 6PM.
Silker was taken to Saint Mary’s, Duluth and treated for life threatening injuries. Hartl suffered injuries troopers at the scene described as non-life threatening. All were wearing seat-belts during the accident on a snow and ice covered I35 in Mission Creek Township.
Officals say alcohol was not a factor in the accident.
