Margie Jarshaw, of Thief River Falls, MN, passed away peacefully with her daughter, Kathy Hanson by her side at Greenleaf Senior Living on Tuesday, April 16, 2019 at the age of 93.

A memorial service in remembrance of Margie will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN, with Rev. John Golv and Rev. Ale Tulu officiating.  Interment will take place at Rindal Cemetery, rural Viking, MN.

Visitation will take place one hour prior to the memorial service on Tuesday at Zion Lutheran Church.

Margie Fay (Swan) Jarshaw was born June 21, 1925 in Holt, MN; daughter of Leonard and Anna (Johnson) Swan. She was baptized and confirmed at Nazareth Lutheran Church, Holt, MN. She attended Sunnyside and Busy Bee Country Schools. Margie worked for her grandma (Swan) Nyhus at her restaurant in Holt, while she attended 3 years of high school in Holt. Her parents moved to Thief River Falls so she could graduate from Lincoln High School in 1943.

Margie was united in marriage to Ervin Roese in 1945. They had one daughter Kathy. Ervin died in Minot, ND in 1957. Margie and Kathy moved to Thief River Falls where Margie worked as a waitress at the Fountain Café for many years.

On August 25, 1970, she was united in marriage to Irvin Jarshaw in Thief River Falls. The couple made their home in Thief River Falls where Margie continued to live. Irvin passed away April 5, 2008. Margie moved into Greenwood Terrace Apartments where she lived for 10 years.  She also lived at Valley Home, Thief River Care Center, and most recently at Greenleaf.

Margie was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN, and was a lifetime member of the VFW and the American legion Auxiliary. She bowled with the American Bowling league and in later years bowled with the Leisure League for many years. She spent many hours volunteering for the Heritage Center. She liked to dance, play whist and enjoyed walking.  Irvin and Margie traveled throughout the United States and Canada. Margie was very proud of her family.   She was a people person and enjoyed having coffee and visiting with old and new friends at all the places she resided.

She will be remembered as a loving wife, wonderful mother, sister, grandma, great-grandma, aunt, and friend.

She is survived by her daughter Kathy (Roese) Hanson, Strandquist, MN, grandson Chad (Sonja) Hanson, Hawthorne, WI, great-grandson Joshua Hanson and great-granddaughter Ellie Hanson, grandson Corey Hanson, Minneapolis, great-grandson Carter Hanson, great-granddaughter Morgan Hanson, sister Betty (Kermit) Eastman, Waite Park, MN, nephew David (Sue) Eastman and family, Wickenburg, AZ, niece Vicki (Don) Landwehr and family, Sauk Rapids, MN, along with many Jarshaw and Roese nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

She is preceded in death by her husbands, Ervin Roese and Irvin Jarshaw, parents Leonard and Anna Swan, grandparents John and Annie Swan and Edwin and Petrina Johnson.
