The Snorre Lodge of the Sons of Norway is having a special program on the history of the Setesdals (Set-us-dolls) Laget (Log-et) at their April meeting on Monday, April 22nd at the Eagles Hall in Thief River Falls. The Setesdals Laget (Set-us-dolls Log-et) was a very active Norwegian lodge for 99 years in NW Minnesota, mainly in the Oklee area.
Distribution at the Thief River Falls Food Shelf is every Tuesday from 1-6pm and every Thursday from 11am-4:30pm at the Food Shelf Building, located at 16330 150th St. NE (go south on Hwy 59 past the movie theater and turn left onto Hwy 61/150th St.. it is the green building/2nd drive on the left). Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered recovery program that meets every Tuesday night at Epiphany Station in Thief River Falls. This program is for anyone who is dealing with life’s hurts, habits or hang-ups. The night starts at 6pm with a free meal followed by worship with a teaching or testimony; the night ends in small groups. The groups currently offered are women’s life issues, addiction and grief and loss; and men’s addictions and life issues. The city of Thief River Falls is hosting the Community Expo on Thursday, April 25th from 4:30pm-6pm at the Ralph Engelstad Arena. Come and visit with Community Leaders and Organizations; find out what TRF has to offer and have your questions answered regarding activities and life in TRF. TRF Park and Rec, Community Ed and Latch Key will also have registration night. They will be showing “Incredibles 2” on their inflatable movie screen; the movie is free and will begin at 6pm, concessions will be available during the movie.

The Holy Trinity Catholic Church of Tabor is sponsoring a Smelt Fry on Saturday, April 27th from 5-8pm at the Tabor Hall. The menu includes smelt or polluck, baked potato, salad, baked beans, onion rings, dinner roll, and beverage; pie is available. The price is adults/$13, under 12/$5, and preschool/free; a children’s menu of chicken strips and fries will also be offered.
The Northwest Minnesota Arts Council sponsors an annual Traveling Art Exhibit, which visits northwest Minnesota communities throughout the year. The exhibit includes 15 original pieces of art by regional adult artists. The exhibit will be at the Hallock Public Library through April 27th.
You can help commemorate The Back Behind the Barn Boys; the Grygla Lion’s Club is taking donations to purchase two billboards that will be located in Gatzke to honor the local band. Donations can either be brought to or mailed to the American State Bank of Grygla, at PO Box 78; donations should be received by May 1st.

Start working now on your entries for culinary, needlework, table settings, sewing, arts & crafts, taxidermy, photography, senior citizen and woodworking departments.
