Norwegian Heritage Week is May 11th-May 18th and on Monday, May 13th it’s Movie Night at the NCTC Auditorium.  The award-winning film “The King’s Choice” will play at 7pm; it’s about King Haakon’s decision not to surrender to the Germans when they invade Norway during World War II and how this affects his and many Norwegians lives.

The Northwest Minnesota Arts Council (NWMAC) Gallery in East Grand Forks at the Riverwalk Centre 211 DeMers Ave. is holding a Parenthood Art Exhibit beginning Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 12th through Father’s Day June 16.  Hours Frid-Sat 2-8 pm, Sund. 2-5 pm.  Features art created by NW Minnesota artists and their children and related to parenthood.  Email to check that the gallery is open.

The Lincoln High School Choir students and the Patrick Henry High School Choir students from North Minneapolis proudly present “Breaking Barriers- Building a Foundation of Humanity” on Monday, May 13th at 7pm in the LHS Auditorium.  Tickets will be available at or by visiting the LHS Activities Office.

The Holt Cemetery Association will have its annual meeting on Monday, May 13th at 7pm at Nazareth Lutheran Church in Holt.  Coffee and bars will be served.  They would like to remind people that flowers are to be removed from the graves 2 weeks after Memorial Day.  Please contact Sharon at 689-9050 for additional information or with any questions.

Distribution at the Thief River Falls Food Shelf is every Tuesday from 1-6pm and every Thursday from 11am-4:30pm at the Food Shelf Building, located at 16330 150th St. NE (go south on Hwy 59 past the movie theater and turn left onto Hwy 61/150th St.. it is the green building/2nd drive on the left).  Please bring your own boxes.

Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered recovery program that meets every Tuesday night at Epiphany Station in Thief River Falls.  This program is for anyone who is dealing with life’s hurts, habits or hang-ups.  The night starts at 6pm with a free meal followed by worship with a teaching or testimony; the night ends in small groups.  The groups currently offered are women’s life issues, addiction and grief and loss; and men’s addictions and life issues.  Nursery is provided, as well as celebration place for elementary aged children. Tri-Community Living at Home is sponsoring Senior Club and Bingo at 12:30pm on Wednesday, May 15th at the Newfolden Center.  Also at the Newfolden Center is a Syttende Mai Celebration at 6pm on Friday, May 17th; come and enjoy a light supper and entertainment.

The American Legion in Middle River and Miss Moorhead 2019, O’Brien Stromsodt , are holding Burger Night on Wednesday, May 15th from 5-7:30 pm.  They will also have $1 bag raffles; all proceeds will go to the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

St. John’s Lutheran School is sponsoring a May Supper Fundraiser on Thursday, May 16th from 4:30-7pm at St. John Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls.  The menu includes grilled burgers, brats and hot dogs; this is a freewill offering fundraiser, the suggested donation is $8.  For more information contact the school at 218-681-7753.

St. Bernard’s Church of Thief River Falls is having a Community Carnival on Saturday, May 18th from 5-9pm.  All are welcome to the Community Mass at 5pm, with a Picnic Potluck following at 6pm.  Fun and games will be enjoyed from 6-9pm, and a FREE outside movie will begin at 9:00; please bring chairs and blankets.  There will also be a live auction and school presentation in the cafeteria at 9pm.

Tractor Supply in Thief River Falls is holding a Market Day on Saturday, May 18th from 8am-3pm and is looking for organizations that would like to sell their homemade items or would like to do some fundraising.  They are looking for someone to cook breakfast and for someone to cook lunch to raise money for their organization.  They have the option for someone to do a car wash and they can get the dunk tank if an organization would like to use it for a fund raiser.
