State Patrol Says Alcohol Was a Factor in Crow Wing County Accident

State authorities say alcohol played a factor in an accident involving an Uhaul vehicle last night in Crow Wing County.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a 2017 Ford Uhaul driven by Alexander David Gustafson, 25, of Cambridge, and a 2006 Dodge Caravan, driven by Carol Ann Sam, 69 of Onamia, were both westbound on Highway 18, when the Caravan slowed to turn, and was struck by the Uhaul. According to the State Patrol report, Gustafson had been consuming alcohol prior to the accident.

Sam and a passenger in her vehicle, Desiree Lynn Taylor, 29, of Waubun, were taken to Crosby Hospital, and treated for injuries troopers at the scene describe as non-life threatening. Gustafson suffered no apparent injury in the accident.

Road conditions were listed as dry and all were wearing seat-belts at the time of the collision, reported just after 10PM.
