Distribution at the Thief River Falls Food Shelf is every Tuesday from 1-6pm and every Thursday from 11am-4:30pm at the Food Shelf Building, located at 16330 150th St. NE (go south on Hwy 59 past the movie theater and turn left onto Hwy 61/150th St.. it is the green building/2nd drive on the left). Carnival/Benefit for Lincoln High School Teacher Erika Kahlhamer on Wednesday, May 29th from 4:30-7:00 pm at the Lincoln High School Commons. Carnival games and silent auction. All attendees are encouraged to wear green which is Erika’s favorite color. Free will donations will be accepted. Erika is battling stage IV kidney cancer, masses were found on her right kidney and T1 vertebrae as well as spots on both her lungs and some lymph nodes. “Paint the Town Purple” June 1st-8th to help bring awareness of the Marshall/Pennington County Relay for Life Event on Friday, June 7th at 5pm at the Pennington County Fairgrounds in Thief River Falls. Decorate your house or business and judging will take place on Wednesday, June 5th; please submit pictures by Tuesday, June 4th to Amber Holtan and let them know you would like to be included in the competition. The 2019 garbage bags for TRF residents will be handed out at the Public Works Facility June 3rd-7th from 7am-5pm each day. This garbage bag hand-out is for all city residents who own or rent. Apartment residents who use a dumpster are not required to use city bags.
The Thief River Falls Chamber of Commerce is working on their annual flower basket program that will allow 51 beautiful flower baskets to be hung on the Highway 59 double lanes. The purpose of this program is to beautify the streets and add color to our community; if you would like to help, please consider sponsoring a hanging flower basket. The fee to sponsor a flower basket is $70 per basket and that fee covers the cost of the plant, a pot, hanger, brackets, cart maintenance and daily watering with fertilizer. The Northwest Minnesota Arts Council (NWMAC) Gallery in East Grand Forks presents a Parenthood Art Exhibit that is running through June 23rd and features pieces created by NW Minnesota artists and their children. Start working now on your entries for culinary, needlework, table settings, sewing, arts & crafts, taxidermy, photography, senior citizen and woodworking departments.
