According to officials with the Minnesota Incident Fire Command System, many areas in Northern Minnesota are in moderate to high fire conditions this weekend.

The Minnesota Inter-agency Fire Center urges everyone to practice fire prevention and to use fireworks with current fire conditions in mind. The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is reminding people that fireworks are prohibited in Minnesota State Parks and on federal lands, including Forest Service managed land.

Authorities say nine out of ten wildfires are caused by humans. It only takes one spark to ignite a wildfire. Keep flammable material at least three feet from open flames. Attend to your campfire at all times. Keep a handy source of water. Check that the ashes and coals are completely cold by feeling with the back of your bare hand.

Never hesitate to call 911.
