The American Legion Riders Post 444 of Middle River are hosting a Legacy Scholarship Ride on Saturday, July 20th. All riders are welcome to join, rain or shine, with registration starting at 9am at the Paradise in Strathcona. Riders will depart at 10am on Saturday, riding up to Baudette and then returning to Middle River, stopping at several cities on the way back. The cost is $15 per person; the Legacy Scholarship Fund provides scholarship money to children of post 9/11 veterans who died on active duty or have a VA disability rating.
It’s Norwegian Day at the Pennington County Fair on Saturday, July 20th from 10am-3pm at the Tri-Valley Garage behind the grandstand. Kids will enjoy the Craft Corner where they can make Viking-style crafts to take home and they’ll have Norwegian foods for lunch, vendors of Scandinavian goods and entertainment at 1pm.
It’s that time of year again for “Thunder on Hooves Bull Ride Mutton Bustin’”, brought to you by TRF Radio. Sign up your little ones ages 4-8 yrs. that weigh less than 60 lbs. by bringing them out to the TRF Radio Station during business hours, Monday-Friday 8am-5pm. Entries will be limited to 20 contestants per performance on both Friday, July 19th and Saturday, July 20th.
There will be a booth at the Pennington County Fair, on Saturday, July 20th, where you can see three preliminary designs for the old TRF City Auditorium and give your thoughts on how this building could be used in the future.
Distribution at the Thief River Falls Food Shelf is every Tuesday from 1-6pm and every Thursday from 11am-4:30pm at the Food Shelf Building, located at 16330 150th St. NE (go south on Hwy 59 past the movie theater and turn left onto Hwy 61/150th St.. it is the green building/2nd drive on the left). Please bring your own boxes.
The TRF Farmer’s Market is now open for the 2019 season on Thursdays in the Floyd B. Olson/Gazebo Park from 4:30-7pm and on Saturdays from 9-noon. You’ll find vegetables, baked/canned goods, jellies and jams, honey, potted plants, tea, salsa, crafts and so much more!
The Middle River Farmer’s Market, located at the picnic shelter on Main Street, is open Friday afternoons from 2-5pm, featuring plants, baked goods, jellies, fruits and vegetables, farm fresh eggs, fancy work and garden décor. The Northwest Minnesota Arts Council sponsors an annual Traveling Art Exhibit, which visits northwest Minnesota communities throughout the year. The exhibit includes 10 original pieces of art by regional adult artists. The exhibit will be at the East Grand Forks Campbell Library through August 31st.
