County Commissioners discussed wetland delineation, and replacement plans to make way for rail work at last weeks regular County Board meeting at the Justice Center in downtown Thief River Falls.

Soil and Water and Conservation District District Manager Bryan Malone saw approval of railroad additions from the east side of the Framers Co-op grain elevator, north to the east side of the golf course.

Malone says the project adds to the east side of the existing rail. He says the project will require wetland replacement on the part of the County. He says the addition to the three already existing rails, should help alleviate some of the loading issues the city experiences with longer trains.

Malone reported at the County Board meeting last week that no exact dates have been set for construction. He says the County will have to purchase the wetland, and record the paperwork with the state before any movement can be made.

He does expect the project will begin sometime in 2019.
