Applications are now being accepted for available funds to encourage urban agriculture.
According to the Minnesota Department of Agriculture, up to 300 thousand dollars is going to be awarded through an Urban Agriculture Grant program.
The MDA, will award eligible applicants to encourage urban youth agricultural education and/or urban agriculture community development. For-profit businesses, nonprofit organizations, schools, local government entities, and Native American tribal communities may request up to 50 thousand dollars per project. Up to 100 percent of the total project cost may be covered by the grant, and up to half of the award may be requested as an advance.
Proposals for projects including equipment purchases, physical improvements, and dedicated staff/contractor time must be submitted prior to Thursday, November 14, 2019, at 4 p.m.
