Pierz Area Man Dead Following Motorcycle Accident Involving Hay Bales


A Pierz area man is dead after hay bales were lost into traffic yesterday in Morrison County.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Myles Steven Mcgrath, 64, was killed after “3 hay bales were lost into traffic” from a 2003 Dodge Ram driven by Roger Allen Lanners, 57, of Royalton, who was pulling a loaded trailer just south of 273rd Street in Platte Township.

According to the State Patrol report, the southbound Mcgrath crashed into one of the hay bales. The 2016 Can-Am Spyder Motorcycle he was driving then left the road into the median ditch. He was taken to North Memorial health care facility. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, reported just after 5:30PM.

Officials say alcohol was not a factor in the accident.
