It’s “Good Old Days” in Viking on Saturday and Sunday, August 17th, and 18th. The celebration continues on Saturday, and you’ll find a Flea Market, the parade at 11am, kid’s activities, live music, tractor pull, bingo, drawings, karaoke, great food vendors and so much more! The Thief River Falls Archery Club is sponsoring an Outdoor 3D Archery Shoot from 8am-5pm on both Saturday, August 17th and Sunday, August 18th; registration cut-off is 2:30 on Sunday. The first round is $15, additional rounds are $10, with youth 12 and under $5; the family max for the first round is $30. There will be 30 3D animal targets and youth equipment will be available for younger archers. They will also have concessions at the sign-up shack. Bethania Free Lutheran WMF is sponsoring a homemade pie and ice-cream social on Sunday, August 18th at 2:30 pm. Pastor David Niemela of Greenbush will bring a devotional and there will be special music. This event is open to all.
The Annual Meeting for the Thief River Falls Baseball Association will be held at 7pm on Monday, August 19th at the American Legion. Election of new board members will be on the agenda; all interested persons are invited to attend.
It’s Lumberjack Day at Peder Engelstad Pioneer Village on Tuesday, August 20th from 6-8pm. There will be lumberjack games, including using a two person saw, throwing tomahawks, potato sack races, washing clothes, chainsaw demonstrations, live music and more! All proceeds will go towards fixing their cabin foundations.
It’s time for the Grygla Fall Festival, starting Friday, August 23rd and running through Sunday, August 25th. The festivities begin on Friday night at 5:00pm with the opening of the beer gardens and food stands, followed by a Fun Run, Bean Bag Toss Tournament, Talent/Variety Show, and a street dance. Activities for Saturday begin at 9am and include softball and horseshoe tournaments, kids games, farmer’s market, crafts and bake sale, a parade, demolition derby, and ending with an Old Time Dance at the Community Center followed by a street dance. On Sunday morning there will be a Breakfast Buffet from 7am-noon, followed by a Joint Community Worship at 9:30 and softball and sand volleyball tournaments. There’s fun for everyone at the Grygla Fall Festival!
The TRF Farmer’s Market is open for the 2019 season on Thursdays in the Floyd B. Olson/Gazebo Park from 4:30-7pm and on Saturdays from 9-noon. You’ll find vegetables, baked/canned goods, jellies and jams, honey, potted plants, tea, salsa, crafts and so much more!
