Deadline Extended for Minnesota Counties to Spend Funds From Election Grant

A Pennington County official says the Minnesota State Secretary has made an amendment to a voting equipment grant.

Pennington County Auditor / Treasure Ken Olson says the State Secretary has extended the deadline for Minnesota counties to spend grant money for elections. He says many Minnesota counties have not spent all of the legislature approved funds. The deadline to spend the money has been moved from August 31st to March 31st 2020. Olson says Pennington County received around 57 thousand dollars from the grant for election funding, with around 7 thousand yet to be spent.

He says the county pays for half of the costs of voting tabulation, while the remaining 50 percent is paid for by townships.
