The Fall 2019 TRF High School Clay Target Registration is now open to FMS and LHS students in grades 6-12 who have successfully completed the Hunter Firearm Safety Program and have a Minnesota State Approved Firearm Safety Certificate. You are invited to the 2019 Newfest Celebration in Newfolden; this year’s festivities will be held on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, September 6th-8th. It all starts on Friday with both Wojo’s Rodeo and the 6th Annual Newfolden Fire Department’s Grinding Wheel Trail Run beginning at 6pm. On Saturday there will be a youth football game before the parade, which is at 11:30am, and events for the whole family during the day, including an introduction to pickleball, a flea market, silent auction, tractor pull, corn hole tournament, bingo, kids games and Wojo’s Rodeo again at 6pm. On Sunday there will be a Lion’s Brunch from 9am-1pm at the Community Center. Come and enjoy the live music, family activities and food vendors all weekend, there’s fun for everyone.
The Pennington County Humane Society is holding their Free Will Donation Rummage Sale on Saturday, September 7th from 8 am to 3 pm at the TRF Curling Club; a Free Will donation lunch will be served. Drop off for donations is Wednesday, Sept.4th through Friday, Sept. 6th from 10am -7pm at the Curling Club. Call 218-280-1081 for pick-up or to volunteer. No clothing, books, old TV’s/Monitors or large exercise equipment will be accepted.
There will be a Cornhole Tournament on Sunday, September 8th at Oakland Park in Thief River Falls. Registration is at 11am, bags fly at noon. The cost is $10 with 100% payback; they will have a computerized pick for partners. Call 218-686-4822 for more information.
A Broadhead Flight Clinic will be put on by Dana Klos in preparation for the archery season. This “free of charge” clinic will be held at the Archery Indoor Range from 7-9pm on Monday, September 9th; bring your equipment. For questions, call Dana at 689-7376.
You can run in the Digi-Key Cares Digi-Dash 3K/5K/10K Run on Saturday, September 14th. The entry fee is $25 on the day of the race; kids under 10 are free and the family max is $50. Registration on the day is at 8am in the Digi-Key west parking lot. New this year is the pre-race Stretch with Rehab Authority and Cross Fit Great North at 8:25am.
The Middle River Farmer’s Market, located at the picnic shelter on Main Street, is open Friday afternoons from 2-5pm, featuring plants, baked goods, jellies, fruits and vegetables, farm fresh eggs, fancy work and garden décor. The TRF Farmer’s Market is open on Saturdays in the Floyd B. Olson/Gazebo Park from 9-noon through September 28th. You’ll find vegetables, baked/canned goods, jellies and jams, honey, potted plants, tea, salsa, crafts and so much more!
