Darlene Hinrichs of Thief River Falls, MN, passed away peacefully and suddenly at her residence on Saturday, September 28, 2019 with her loving husband at her side.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a 7:00 PM prayer service on Thursday, October 3, 2019 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 4, 2019 at Zion Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, MN with Rev. John Golv & Rev. Ale Tulu officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Thief River Falls.
Darlene Elaine Opsund was born April 30, 1934 in Warren, MN, the daughter of Eddie and Rose (Fillipi) Opsund. She attended school in Warren and graduated from Warren High School in 1952.
Darlene worked at the Warren Creamery as bookkeeper and at the Federal Reserve Bank, Minneapolis in 1954. She married William Peterson in 1955. They had two sons Jon and Brian. They moved to Thief River Falls in 1959. She started work at Union State Bank retiring after 31 years from Norwest Bank which is now Wells Fargo Bank.
She married Art Hinrichs in 1992 and they continued to live in Thief River Falls. She was also a bookkeeper for Hinrichs Electric until Art retired in 1998. Together they enjoyed camping throughout the state of Minnesota, spending time together with friends & family, and they especially enjoyed time with the grandkids.
Darlene is a member of Zion Lutheran Church, and the Noon Lioness Club. She was a kind, passionate, caring person; and loving wife, mother & grandmother “DD”.
She is survived by her husband Art; two sons Jon (Julie) Peterson and Brian (Kim) Peterson; step-children: Rod (Lisa) Hinrichs all of Thief River Falls, MN, Terry (Barb) Hinrichs, Harvey, ND, Art L. Hinrichs, Grand Forks, ND, Kim (John) Crowley III, Grand Forks, ND; grandchildren: Lisa (Josh) Loland and Maggie (Patrick) Lee, Lee Peterson, step-grandchildren: Nathan, Jenna and Lydia Hinrichs, Andrea, Ashley and Adam Hinrichs, J.C. and Kasey Crowley and Joe Lofquist; several great-grandchildren & step-greatgrandchildren; sister Bonnie (Art) DeMeyere, Fridley, MN; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Richard Opsund.
