The city of Middle River will be flushing hydrants on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday beginning around 4pm each day this week.  If they are flushing a hydrant in your area, avoid doing loads of white laundry at that time as the flushing may cause a rust color in the water for a short time.

Parent-Teacher Conferences at Lincoln High School, Franklin Middle School, and Challenger Elementary School will be held on Thursday, October 10th from 4-8pm, Tuesday, October 15th from 4-8pm, and Wednesday, October 16th from 8am-12pm.  They will be using Synergy, the student information system, to schedule the conferences; the site will be open until Tuesday, October 8th at 3pm.

The Arctic Adventure Scholastic Book Fair will open at Franklin Middle School on Tuesday, October 8th, through the morning of Wednesday, October 16th.  It will be available for students to shop on school days from 7:45am-3:45pm.  For anyone in the community, the extended hours on October 10th and 15th, from 4pm-8pm during Parent-Teacher Conferences, will allow you to check out the book fair as well.

The Thompson and River Roads will be closed Wednesday for a short time for culvert replacement.

ECFE is sponsoring a “Children’s Stuff” Garage Sale from 9am-12pm on Saturday, October 12th at the Challenger Elementary in Thief River Falls.  You’ll find a large selection of children’s clothing, toys, equipment and more.  The suggested donation is $1 per adult.

Grace Lutheran Church of Grygla is serving their Annual Lutefisk Supper from 4pm-7:30pm on Saturday, October 12th at the Grygla Community Center.  The menu includes lutefisk, lefse, Swedish meatballs with gravy, real mashed potatoes, carrots, cranberries, and homemade desserts.  The cost is 13 yrs to adults/ $16 (for lutefisk), 13 yrs to adult/ $10 (for meatballs), 5-12 yrs/ $6 and preschool/free.  To-go boxes will be available; they will also have a Bake Sale and Handcraft Item sale.

It’s the Middle River Fireman’s Ball on Saturday, October 12th.  The Smoked Tenderloin Dinner will be served from 5-9pm and includes a Freewill Offering.  Prize drawings will be held at 9pm, tickets are $5 each.  More prizes and raffles will be held throughout the night, need not be present to win raffle prizes.

St. Pauli Lutheran Church of rural Thief River Falls will host a special concert on Sunday, October 13th at 3pm, featuring the Cathy Erickson Band.  This event is an annual fundraiser, with proceeds supporting various charities; a Freewill Offering will be collected.  Homemade pie, ice cream and beverages will be served following the concert; there may also be pies for sale as supplies last.  Everyone is welcome!

The Thief River Falls Volunteer Fire Department will be serving a Ham Dinner from 4:30pm-7:30pm on Monday, October 14th at the Eagles Club.  The menu includes ham, mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetable and bun; a Freewill Offering will be collected.  Proceeds will be used to purchase new safety equipment.

Distribution at the Thief River Falls Food Shelf is every Tuesday from 1-6pm and every Thursday from 11am-4:30pm at the Food Shelf Building, located at 16330 150th St. NE (go south on Hwy 59 past the movie theater and turn left onto Hwy 61/150th St.. it is the green building/2nd drive on the left).  Please bring your own boxes.

Celebrate Recovery is a Christ-centered recovery program that meets every Tuesday night at Epiphany Station in Thief River Falls.  This program is for anyone who is dealing with life’s hurts, habits or hang-ups.  The night starts at 6pm with a free meal followed by worship with a teaching or testimony.  Nursery is provided, as well as a celebration place for elementary aged children.
