A Red Lake man faces sentencing after entering a plea to single count of second-degree murder.
Jeremiah Kingbird, 39, entered a plea of guilty yesterday before Judge Susan Richard Nelson in U.S. District Court in Bemidji.
According to court documents, Kingbird got into an argument with his wife while driving home following a night of drinking, January 6th, 2019. The two began to engage in a physical altercation, with the victim struck on her head, strangled, and left on the side of the road near Highway 1, and Old Ponemah Road in Redby. The victim was found face down in the snow hours later by law enforcement.
She was transported to the Red Lake IHS Hospital where staff were unsuccessful in reviving her.
