Portions of North Dakota, Minnesota, Michigan and Wisconsin are preparing for winter weather including possible heavy snow in the coming days.
The National Weather Service in Grand Forks has issued a Winter Storm Watch, in effect Thursday evening through Saturday afternoon.
Rain is expected to start changing to snow, possibly heavy snow, Accumulations are expected to vary greatly through Thursday night ranging from 2 to 6 inches.
According to the Weather Service, the storm is expected to bring two rounds of trouble to the area. Moderate to heavy snow is forecast for Friday and travel is expected to be significantly impacted. Additional accumulations are expected Friday and Saturday. Winds could gust as high as 45 miles per hour Friday and Saturday in portions of northwest, west central Minnesota and southeast North Dakota.
