Former University of North Dakota and University of Crookston football standout Jim Leclair passed away Monday, November 4th. Jim Leclair was born in St Paul and was a star athlete before coming to UMC-Crookston in 1968 and then to UND in 1970.
Leclair was selected 54th overall by the Cincinnati Bengals in the 1972 draft and played there as a linebacker. He was nominated All-Pro in 1976 and is a member of the College Football Hall of Fame (1999), the North Dakota Sports Hall of Fame (2014), the University of Minnesota-Crookston Hall of Fame (1999), the UND Athletic Hall of Fame (1985) and the South St. Paul High School Hall of Fame (2007). He lived out his life in Mayville, North Dakota and was an insurance agent and one-time mayor of Mayville. Jim Leclair passed away Monday at age 69.
